Councilman Mike Bonin

Councilman Mike Bonin sent out the following notice on Thursday:

“This Saturday [April 18], I am hosting a telephone Town Hall event about the COVID-19 crisis to answer your questions. The town hall will be held via teleconference on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. If you are interested in participating, you can click here (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfFIiGrWVBPN8nCfHpoxioLFTu7NSfPphR5MAwA9cIdcp0Mkw/viewform) to sign up to receive an automated phone call that will patch you into the main call.”

Bonin said this will be the first in a series of remote town hall events he will host over the next several weeks to focus on specific elements of the crisis and response. This one will focus on medical questions and the Safer at Home order.

He said the panelists will include:

  1. Dr. Jan King, MD, MPH: The Area Health Officer representing Los Angeles County Department of Public Health on the Westside of Los Angeles;
  2. Greg Good: Chief of Legislative & External Affairs for Mayor Eric Garcetti;
  3. Louise McCarthy, MPP: President and CEO of the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County (CCALAC), where she represents the interests of LA-area Community Clinics and Health Centers, and those they serve;
  4. Dan Ruderman, Ph.D.: An assistant professor of research medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and the Lawrence J. Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine.

Your need to send your questions in advance and you can ask up to three. Circling the News urges you to sign up and ask questions. Below are the three questions that the CTN editor submitted:

  1. If everyone is wearing face masks and observing social distancing, why can’t grocery stores reopen, without making people line up outside?
  2. When will City Recreation Centers reopen for public use?
  3. Why were the homeless that were exposed to corinavirus at the Granada Hills Rec Center not detained, rather than allowing them to go back into the community?
