Succulents are some of the most successful plants grown in Southern California yards because of low water and high sun requirements. They also make a delightful house plant.
The Pacific Palisades Garden Club will host guest speaker Jeff Moore, who has a specialty retail nursery, Solana Succulents, in Solana Beach (just north of San Diego) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 3, at the Woman’s Club.
Moore will present a broad overview of succulents in cultivation, including the history of succulents, growers, collectors, landscaping and specialty gardens developed with rare crested and caudiciform succulents, such as bonsai and the undersea coral reef bed garden.
He is the author of “Aloes and Agaves in Cultivation” “Soft Succulents,” “Spiny Succulents” and “Under the Spell of Succulents.”
At his nursery, Moore works with everything from tiny two-inch plants and boxed landscape specimens to landscape designs.
