World-class jazz for the Palisades community will be presented this Sunday, January 12 at 5 p.m. at the Palisades Lutheran Church, 15905 Sunset Blvd. The event is free, but donations will be accepted. There is free parking.
On vocals is Diane Elder, with Bradley Young on piano, Will Lyle on bass and Kevin Kanner on drums.
Elder is a long time Palisadian and award-winning jazz singer whose playbook spans from Ella Fitzgerald to Ray Charles to Diana Krall. She is particularly well known for her interpretation of the Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim.
Elder has headlined at the Central Avenue Jazz Festival, where she was featured on a special segment of PBS. She has performed at numerous jazz clubs in and around Los Angeles and is excited to be performing for the first time at the Palisades Lutheran Church.
Elder has been singing Standards from the American Golden Age of music for over two decades and is grateful her parents introduced to this fabulous genre of music when she was young.
