Pacific Palisades Senior Lead Officer Michael Moore gave tips for a crime-free holiday last year at a Palisades Rotary meeting. Circling the News is reprinting his tips, which are good reminders.
Moore suggests that if you are leaving town for the holidays, do not put your mail on hold. Instead have someone pick it up. He explained that if someone finds out you have a hold on your mail—and they tell someone–it automatically lets people know you’re out of town. Additionally, anyone watching your house will notice there is no mail delivery.
With the increase in shopping online, packages left on your porch are a temptation to those who might be trolling neighborhoods–specifically looking for boxes.
Moore said that even if you have a video of the person taking a package, it might be hard for the LAPD to track that person without any other description. The most helpful piece of information to give detectives would be the car and license plate number of the thief.

Moore suggests having your packages delivered to your work or to a neighbor that you know will be at home, rather than having them left on your porch.
As far as home burglaries, he said the days of criminals taking computers and televisions are gone; now its cash and jewelry.
Moore released his crime report for Pacific Palisades through December 15:
BURGLARY
October 31 to November 7, noon to noon, in the 900 block of Jacon Way. The suspect smashed a window on victim’s garage and took bicycles, tools, and golf clubs.
BURGLARY/THEFT FROM VEHICLE
December 13 to 14, 6 p.m. to 10 a.m. in the 16100 block of Sunset. The suspect smashed a window on victim’s vehicle and took a computer.
December 14, 9 to 10:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Los Leones. The suspect entered victim’s vehicle and took credit cards.
December 15 to 16, 5 p.m. to 9:30 a.m., in the 300 block of Entrada. The suspect took license plates from victim’s vehicle.
POSSESSION OF LSD
December 11, 10:10 a.m. in the 15700 block of Bowdoin, Palisades High School. A 16-year-old male was arrested for possession of LSD after the school received information that the subject was in possession of narcotics.
ROBBERY
December 13, at 1:15 p.m., in the 15300 block of Antioch. The suspects were three females and one male. All were black and all appeared to be about 20 years old. Two of the females were about 5’ and 120 pounds. The male was 5’5” and 150 pounds. The third female was 5’5” and 135 pounds. The four entered victim’s business and walked to purses secured by security cable. The suspect’s cut the cable and took several purses. One of the smaller females pushed a clerk down as the suspects fled the store.
THEFT
December 11, 2:15 to 2:45 p.m., in the 16300 block of Pacific Coast Highway. The suspect (male black, black hair, brown eyes, 5’11” 150 lb, 25/35 years) took victim’s property from the beach.
December 13, 1:15 to 1:30 p.m., in the 500 block of Ocampo. The suspect (white female, brown hair, 130 lbs. 25/35 years) took packages delivered to victim’s home and fled in a white van.
