Methodist Church Steeple Undergoing Repairs
The Methodist Church, located on Via de la Paz, is having repairs made to its steeple.
Incoming Optimist Club Co-President and architect Rich Wilken was asked last week if there was any news in the town.
“They’re putting up scaffolding on the Methodist Church steeple,” he said. “In all the years I’ve lived in Pacific Palisades, I’ve never seen that before.”
Wilken grew up in Pacific Palisades and his father, a former pastry chef, owned John’s Pastry Shop on Swarthmore. Wilken graduated from Palisades High School in 1964. He started his own business Wilken Surfboards and last year was inducted into the International Surfboard Builders Hall of Fame.
Stopping by the Methodist Church office on Via de la Paz (across from Palisades Elementary School), I asked about the scaffolding. The woman in the office said it was to repair the cracks, and the cracks around the windows.
