Circling the News made three public records requests to DWP on March 7: 1) When was the electricity shut off on January 7 in Pacific Palisades? How many poles were lost? 2) When was the Chautauqua Reservoir emptied in the summer? How many gallons did it hold? When was it refilled? 3) was DWP CEO Janisse Quinones aware that the Palisades was in a very high fire severity zone and what were DWP protocols for VHFSZ?
On March 17, CTN received three separate emails from DWP – one for each of the public records requests made. The body of the letter was the same and stated:
“This letter is in response to your California Public Records Act (CPRA) Request received on March 7, 2025, seeking records from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) on the above subject.
“We write to inform you that the LADWP is in possession of responsive records and intends to disclose all non-exempt records. LADWP currently estimates that it will begin to produce responsive records in four weeks, but that date could change.”
The letters were signed, Sincerely CPRA Clearinghouse
My electricity was shut off at around 5:00pm
Michael–what neighborhood?
Sue
In our neighborhood W. Revello drive (lower Castellammare hillside), the power was shut off around 4:30pm give or take 10 minutes. Garden hose water pressure was gone after that as well.
