For Overnight Lane Closures May 28-31
Caltrans has issued the following advisory: a lane of eastbound or westbound Pacific Coast Highway will be closed for overnight paving work from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Tuesday through Friday, May 28-31.
- Today – Eastbound PCH from Big Rock Drive to Topanga Canyon Boulevard
- Wednesday, May 29 – Eastbound PCH from Big Rock Drive to Topanga Canyon Boulevard
- Thursday, May 30 – Eastbound PCH from Chautauqua Boulevard to the McClure Tunnel
- Friday, May 31 – Westbound PCH from the McClure Tunnel to Chautauqua Boulevard
According to the alert: “Motorists should allow extra time through the work zone. The closures are weather permitting and subject to change. Motorists can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/.”
Please be advised, they never pick-up their cones until almost 7 am.
It is so disrespectful and dangerous. I have witnessed numerous screaming matches
between the motorists and the workers.
The motorists crime ….. they want to get to work on time.
Could someone please remind caltrans to get off PCH by 5am.
Wow, Diane. I’d like to thank them for working hard all night long to make the roads better and safer for all of us. I’m sure they’ll do the best they can to get out of your way.
Jack,
I don’t think Diane was arguing that the people should not be working. I think she was stating that she has seen people get in fights when they aren’t aware the roads were going to be closed, and they’re running late. I think she was warning people that even though the alert is through 5 a.m., sometimes the cones are not picked up until 7 a.m. and that frustrates her. A call to Caltrans to inquire about the time cones will be picked up would be warranted (and should be included in an alert). I struggle to strive to communicate as accurately as possible in a written medium that is no longer face-to-face. If we could just sit down and speak to each other, it would be so much easier to explain what we mean.
