“I made all these great musicals with Judy Garland. It was all about me going into a barn and saying: ‘Let’s put on a show.’ That’s what me and Judy did.” (Mickey Rooney)

In their movies, a crisis happened, and there was not enough money to solve it, so they put on a show. Movie viewers came away with an uplifted message.

Palisades, let’s put on a show. We need relief from all the homes destroyed and belongings incinerated. We need our community back. We need our neighbors, and it will happen, but no one wants to hear that now. We just want our lives back.

One person, who was waiting in a line to go see his home in the Highlands said he felt like the soul had been sucked out of the town.

Okay, so most of the residents have been wandering around with two pairs of underwear and socks. The shoes on our feet stink and our clothes, which we’ve worn for the past two weeks look grungy.

People have moved out, not we wanted to, but because we were ordered to evacuate. It was something residents had no choice nor control of the situation.

Now many of us worry that are older neighbors will not rebuild and move back. The neighbors we knew, and love may have moved away from this area forever.

Time to put on a show.

Theatre Palisades Youth have already taken the first steps in finding a new rehearsal space, so the youth musical can go forward this spring.

A Palisades AYSO Boys soccer team competed this past weekend – see the story tomorrow.

And the Palisades 4th of July is on!! Palisades Americanism Parade Association (PAPA) President Matt Rodman and Secretary Daphne Gronich told CTN “As we sit here today after the historic Palisades Wildfire, we hope to have a Pacific Palisades July 4th Parade or other celebration.

“We have been discussing how to proceed with respect and dignity, and the consensus is that we should go forward in some capacity.

“While it’s too soon to know how exactly how it will look, we hope to do our small part to keep the fabric of the community together through the rebuilding process,” Rodman and Gronich said.

And. . .the clown is in. Yes, Bill Prachar, who hung up his floppy shoes and bright red hair, said he’d come out of retirement for a special 4th of July Parade/walk/event.

Start thinking of a theme for the 77th Annual Pacific Palisades Parade.
