Those of us who were home when the evacuation notice was given for the Palisades Fire on January 7, were able to put our pets in the car and drive off. We were the lucky ones.

Other residents who were at appointments in other areas of the city or who work downtown, rushed to get back to save their pets, but were not allowed back in an active fire zone.

These people want in the area to search for their pets, but are not being allowed in – and there are some homes still standing – making this an emergency.

FEMA certified pet rescuers have tried to access the Palisades Fire area, but have not been allowed in. Cats can’t go more than three days without water and it’s been seven days, now.

Everyone understands that the priority has been preventing looters, but one worker said, “These people lost their homes, and too many are soon gonna find out they also lost pets because the City is not prioritizing these efforts.”

The pet rescuers are being stopped by the national guard. There does not seem to be a reason for denying access to FEMA certified pet rescuers. Each rescuer could be paired with a National Guard serviceman. Maybe Mayor Karen Bass, if she is in town, could ask to expedite finding pets.

Many of us have lost everything but were lucky enough to get out with our animals. Bass, please tell the police to let the FEMA animal rescue people in

Local volunteers have launched a website to help reunite missing pets with their owners. The platform, still in its early stages, allows community members to share information about lost and found animals quickly and easily. The initiative aims to provide a centralized resource for pet recovery and rescue efforts in the area. click here.

One Response to FEMA Certified Pet Rescue Not Allowed in Palisades Fire. Why?

  1. Dana Dalton says:

Hashtag – “pali strong” – we were delivered to Hell’s doorstep by Bass and Newsom.
Our pets are in heaven b/c they did no harm but love thy owner and neighnor.
Every single one who allowed (or looked the other way ) at the incompetence in Karen Bass should rot in hell.
    Or
Anyone Who put politics AhEAD of public safety
God is watching and so are the pets who loved to the very end.
