On your marks. Get set. Go! Kids and parents are invited to participate in the YMCA-Optimist track meet this Sunday at Palisades High School.
Adds an Event for Parents This Sunday
The 47th Annual Optimist/YMCA Track Meet is now open for registration. This year there is a twist: Everyone is running because there is a 50- and 100-meter dash for moms and dads – and the new family 4 X 100-meter race.
Children will now be able to shout at their parents to “go faster!” and join them in the relay race.
The meet will run from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at Palisades High School, with check-in starting at 10:30 a.m.
Children and teens, ages 3-15, can compete in sprints, runs, long jump, shot put and javelin. Individuals may participate in as many events as they would like in their age division.
The cost is $20 per youth if registered before May 19 and $10 per adult. Registration the day of the meet is $40. Participants ages 3-15 will receive a T-shirt and ribbon.
