Heineman Stands Out in All-Star Game

Palisades resident Scott Heineman was selected to play in the Triple-A All-Star Game on July 11 in Columbus, Ohio, and “stole” the game.

The outfielder who plays for the Rangers farm team the Red Rock Express, stole four bases, which allowed the Pacific Coast all-stars to defeat the International League team 12-7.

The Times Tribune July 12 story “Pacific Coast Thumbs IL in All-Star Game” noted that “Rangers prospect Scott Heineman stole four bases in the game — three in one trip around the bases. Heineman walked to lead off the fifth against Kevin Quackenbush. He stole second base with Dylan Moore at the plate, then Moore walked. Heineman swiped third base and finally home plate in a double steal with Moore taking second.”

According to Sports Day, “Heineman almost had a fifth stolen base, but was out on a close play trying to steal third after singling and stealing second in his second plate appearance.”

Heineman told Sports Day, “’The All-Star Game was a cool accomplishment, but I’ve got other goals in mind,’ he said. ‘And if I can do anything to make that happen, I’m going to try to take advantage of it.’”

Heineman entered the All-Star break with a 10-game hitting streak and since June 29, was hitting .488, with two doubles, a triple, three home runs, 10 RBIs and 10 runs scored. On the season he is batting .303. He leads the Express in runs scored and stolen bases (14).

He began the season at Double-A Frisco and in April, was bumped up to the Triple-A, team, which is located outside Austin, Texas.
