Full Closure of the Road Set for May 4 and 5
Make plans to avoid Chautauqua Boulevard from 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, through 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 5. The roadway, which is in sore need of repaving, will be resurfaced and there will be a full-road closure. Residents are advised to use Temescal Canyon Road or Sunset Boulevard.
The first phase of the project, starting at Pacific Coast Highway, will start with cold milling Chautauqua. After that, liquid asphalt will be applied, prior to the resurfacing.
While crews are working, there will be construction equipment and trucks in the area. Although the trucks may be of interest to some children, adults are reminded to make sure children avoid the work-site area.
Additionally, there will be no parking on either side of Chautauqua (and there may be restrictions on West Channel Road). “Temporary No Parking Signs” will be posted at least 24 hours before the actual work begins to provide notice to residents, visitors and business owners.
When work is not in progress between the preparation and resurfacing phases, the signs will be reversed to allow for vehicular parking.
In an April 26 email to residents, Councilman Mike Bonin wrote: “For a while now, the most requested street for resurfacing in Pacific Palisades has been Chautauqua. I promised that once the construction from the Palisades Village project was completed, we would get it done. I have been reminding officials with our Bureau of Street Services about this on a regular basis, and they just confirmed that they will resurface Chautauqua from Sunset to PCH on May 4 and 5.”
Hopefully they do a better job repaving Chautauqua than they did Palisades Dr.
