The annual 2024 Palisades Democratic Garden Party is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 8 at a home in the Riviera Palisades. (Doors open at 1:30 p.m.)
There will be delicious food and drink while relaxing outdoors, and there will also be a silent auction.
Guests scheduled to attend include Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin, Supervisor District 3 Lindsey Horvath, City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto, City Councilmember Traci Park, L.A. County Democratic Party Chair Mark Ramos and Senior Barack Obama Advisor and Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton.
A video message will be played that was recorded specifically for Pali Dems by Representative Brad Sherman.
This is a chance to mingle with officer holders and other VIPs.
After brief remarks the attending politicians generally take questions. Now might be a good time to ask Horvath her stance on Grants Pass and why. Or hear Park explain about plans for the L.A. Olympics.

How much more elite can you get when you throw a garden party
In Pacific Palisades just for “certain people”. This is so ridiculous.
Why can’t the representatives come and speak to everyone who lives in the
Palisades.
I’m sure this Democratic gathering will promote JOY and GOOD FEELINGS and a fair share of Trump bashing. But will there be any discussion of POLICY – not likely!
The past four years of failed foreign and domestic policy has brought with it little JOY and do we really want four more years of Wars, Inflation, High Gas Prices, Censorship, a Failing Education System, Growing Anti-Semitism, wasteful Government spending, and the continuing flood of Illegal Immigrants.
As a “recovering Democrat” I vote no.
Appreciate Dana’s concerns about having our reps speak to Palisadians free of charge and agree that that’s an essential component of representation! That’s why the PaliDems have also for decades organized what’s called their Annual Meeting —now held first week of February every year, free to the public and open to all — where the club invites elected officials to speak and answer questions. At the Annual Meeting, the group also provides refreshments for attendees free of charge.
PPCC typically holds the meeting in person at the Woman’s Club, and these days extends the service, offering a livestream so people can watch from home as well.
The Garden Party is a fundraiser, held in a less formal setting and also open to all but yes, for this event there does have to be a charge to cover expenses and allow PaliDems to raise the funds it needs to operate.
Regarding discussion of policy, the Dem club agrees with Gary that politics must be about more than just good feelings — the point must be to help people and solve problems. Neighbors and friends will disagree about whether D’s or R’s have superior policies, but I can assure you that all the things Gary lists are concerns for PPDC. The club’s leadership and membership, along with members of the community who attend PPDC’s events, should and will continue to hold our reps’ feet to the fire until these and other problems are addressed.
