Chamber Music Palisades will hold its second free concert in the Methodist Church.
Chamber Music Palisades, who features top musicians in Los Angeles and the world, will be performing a free concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 7, at the Pacific Palisades United Methodist Church, 801 Via de la Paz. There is free parking.
Works will include many favorites, such as the William Tell Overture (Rossini), Carmen Rhapsody (Bizet), Trio (Dring), Mut and Steff (Albert), Miniatures (Still), Flower Duet “Lakme” (Delibes), The Top and The Ball (Bizet), Hungarian Dance (Brahams) and Caprice (Saint-Saens).
This concert might be the perfect place to introduce the younger generation to classical music through a variety of composers.
Performing trios and quartets are Susan Greenberg (flute and piccolo), Zachary Borowiec (oboe and English horn), Michele Zukovsky (clarinet) and Pierre Long-Tao Tang (piano).
PERFORMERS:
Susan Greenberg
Susan Greenberg is principal flute at Santa Monica Symphony, and President and Artistic Director of Chamber Music Palisades. Greenberg has appeared as guest soloist with the San Francisco and Oakland Symphonies, the Napa Valley Symphony, and at the Hollywood Bowl.
She has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, L.A. Opera, New York City Opera, American Ballet Theater, Joffrey Ballet, as well as at the Casals, Ojai and Martha’s Vineyard Music Festivals. She is presently the flute professor at Pepperdine University and Santa Monica College.
Michele Zukovsky recently retired from the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra. She has appeared many times as a soloist with the Philharmonic, at the Hollywood Bowl, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and the Walt Disney Concert Hall. She has been a guest soloist with many orchestras around the world, including the world premiere performance of John Williams’ Clarinet Concerto with the Boston Pops. She is currently on the faculty of the USC Thornton School of Music and the Pasadena Conservatory of Music.
Pierre Long-Tao Tang serves as the conductor for the annual musical theatre and opera productions at Pepperdine University. In his most recent guest appearance with Diamond Bar High School from California, Dr. Tang conducted Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique at the newly renovated David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center, New York City, receiving positive reviews. In addition to his orchestral pursuits, Tang holds master’s degrees in wind conducting and choral music. He is the director of music and an organist at Pacific Palisades Presbyterian Church.
Zachary Borowiec is the principal oboe at Orchestra Nova Los Angeles, and the second oboe at the Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the American Youth Symphony, the Dream Orchestra. Originally from New York City, he studied oboe performance at Northwestern University and received his master’s in music degree in 2016 from U.S.C. Thorton School of Music. He also now serves as a private oboe teacher.
