This Sunday, June 11, Corpus Christi will hold a parish feast day.  All are welcome to attend the celebration. People are invited to assemble on the school steps at 880 Toyopa Drive at 9:15 a.m. and then form a procession and walk to the church for the 9:30 a.m. mass.

It was explained to this editor that The Feast of Corpus Christi (Latin for the Body of Christ) was started in the Middle Ages and widely celebrated in Europe, involving the whole village.

Today, it is still a feast that is celebrated in towns all over Europe with processions and feasts for the parish and the town.

Since this parish is named Corpus Christi, congregants celebrate this day with a special Mass, a procession, and hospitality on the church patio after the mass, which includes refreshments such as donuts and coffee.

This Sunday, Corpus members, friends and families will also honor Father Larry Neumeier on his retirement from active ministry. He was ordained June 3, 1995 and has served as the associate pastor at Corpus from July 2019 until his upcoming retirement this June 30.
