Gracie Abrams
Gracie Abrams, 23, the daughter of director J.J. Abrams and producer Katie McGrath has just released her first full-length album, Good Riddance.
The Daily News ran a March 22 story (“Are Your Ready for Gracie Abrams?”) and wrote that she “built her following with a pair of Extended Plays released during the pandemic that included songs she’d written living in her childhood bedroom.”
When Abrams was 13 and a student at the Archer School for Girls, she started releasing music via SoundCloud. She graduated from high school in 2018 and briefly attended Barnard College, before devoting herself fulltime to her music.
In March, fans lined up, some waiting nearly seven hours to purchase a copy of Good Riddance, which guaranteed an entrance to her performance and a signed poster by Abrams.
“We seriously had fans in line to purchase her record as early as 4 a.m.,” said the live music director at Amoeba Records. “It was raining heavily that day, too, but fans were so excited to get in. I have to say that Gracie’s fans are seriously some of the nicest.”
She is performing at The Fonda Theater March 29 and 30 and April 1. Abrams will be an opening act on selected shows for the US leg of Taylor Swift’s upcoming The Eras Tour.
Abrams played AYSO soccer, as did her older brother Henry, her young brother August, while father JJ refereed when the family lived in Pacific Palisades.
It appears they had several homes, one in the Riveria that parents purchased in 2014 for $14.47 million, listed it in April 2021 for $22 million and sold in an off-market deal for $20.4 million July 2022.
Although the parents now have completed construction on their own custom-built mansion in Santa Monica, it appears they also own a more modest home in the Palisades, purchased in 2018, and a home in Rustic Canyon that was a 2017 off-market deal that closed for $6.3 million and since rebuilt.
Is it the Riviera home that was the site of Abrams’ inspiration for her earlier songs? Has she found a new location to inspire her? Please don’t say “Good Riddance” to the Palisades.
