BID to Meet This Wednesday
The Pacific Palisades Business Improvement District board will meet Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Chamber of Commerce office, 15330 Antioch Street. The public is invited, and comments are welcome. Minutes from November 14 and 16 and December 5 will be approved.
The December 5 minutes include:
City Updates: Councilman Mike Bonin’s field deputy Lisa Cahill said that straws have now been banned in Los Angeles. One may ask for a straw—and still get a plastic straw. Potrero Canyon Park will have a ground-breaking ceremony [for the final construction stages] in January.
Ad Hoc Reformation Committee: Rick Lemmo’s committee will interview two additional candidates to manage the renewal of the BID, which expires January 2021. “The process is complicated, so we must begin early.” The first proposal from Steve Gibson was $45,000, but the BID hopes to be able to do it for about half. Lemmo clarified that it is not really a reformation, but more of a renewal.
Odds and Ends: Lemmo reminded board members that any comments at the public meeting that are not about the BID District are personal and off the record.
Chamber Christmas Stroll: Nicole Howard (Chamber representative), reported that the stroll was a big success with great store traffic, and the goal is to make this event even more business-oriented. “Santa Claus did not generate business [Holiday Ho!Ho!Ho!] and actually took away parking.” She said that Bob Benton had not announced who had won the cash prize from the stroll.
At this Wednesday’s meeting, Cahill is expected to update the BID board, as is Senior Lead Officer Michael Moore. Eleni Polakoff of Chrysalis will also give a report.
Old Business includes: 1) finance update; 2) ad hoc reformation update; 3) trash disposal for next year; 4) update on BID drawing power from the street lights for proposed street-tree lighting; 5) update on the waiver of fee for the storage bin that is located on the City parking lot.
New Business: Election of officers—the slate includes President Elliot Zorensky (UDO Real Estate), Vice President Rick Lemmo (Caruso’s Senior VP of Corporate Relations), Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer Leland Ford (Ralphs/Pharmaca/Car Wash property owner) and Secretary Susan Carroll (Gift Garden store owner on Antioch at Sunset).
THE SANTA CLAUSE HO HO WASN’T SUPPOSED TO GENERATE BUSINESS…IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FUN TIME FOR THE KIDS….AND THAT IT DID….1000 people in attendance I believe was said….Let the Chamber do their HOLIDAY BUSINESS STROLL…and the COMMUNITY WILL CONTINUE THE TRADITION OF BRINGING SANTA TO THE KIDS IN A FIRE TRUCK etc.
