A reader wrote Circling the News and said that incorrect information was being disseminated about voting in California’s recall election. “The election is complicated enough already without more incorrect information being put out there,” he said.
A voter DOES NOT have to include his/her address on the ballot that is returned by mail or placed in a ballot drop box. This is inaccurate information that was found on Nextdoor Palisades: “WARNING: ADDRESS YOUR BALLOT or it doesn’t count.” Wrong, you do not need your return address.
One CTN reader actually called the Registrar’s office and was assured that an address is not required, even though there’s a tiny space below where you sign the ballot, which has one’s registered name and a line that states, “Address as registered in Los Angeles County.” But nowhere in the ballot instructions does it state you need to include your address.
This rumored, incorrect belief showed up in a Two Cents item in this week’s Palisadian-Post, where a person stated, “Ballots: Everybody be sure to address your ballot, or it will not count. There’s a space on the envelope for you to write in your voter registration address.”
By now, all registered voters should have received a ballot in the mail. If you have not received your ballot yet, you can call (800) 815-2666 and speak with someone directly in the County of Los Angeles Registrar’s office.
To mark the ballot: vote either Yes to have Governor Newsom recalled, or No, you do not want him recalled.
All voters, regardless of whether they want to see Newsom recalled or not, may then select a candidate to succeed Newsom as Governor, if he is recalled. All voters, regardless of party preference, may vote for any person listed on the ballot or may write in a candidate.
Once you have made your selection, put the voted ballot into the return envelope. Sign, date and seal it.
After completing a ballot, you have several choices: 1) mail it – postage is provided, 2) place it in a ballot drop box, 3) vote in person at a vote center on September 14 or 4) drop completed ballot off at a voting center starting September 4 (e.g., the Palisades Recreation Center, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
A ballot has to be postmarked on or before election day and received no later than seven days after the election to count.

I received my ballot on a Monday, marked and put it into the voter box Tuesday morning and by Wednesday morning had a Trax message that my vote had been counted! Now if one could only get an automatic button to remove all further contact with election ads…
