The Human Rights Watch Student Task Force will hold a virtual town hall — “Human Rights and the Climate Crisis: Green Schools Campaign” — from 7 to 8 p.m. on Earth Day this Thursday, April 22.

All residents are invited to participate in the Zoom meeting. Contact STFClimateTownHall@gmail.com for the information.

Throughout the Los Angeles area, STF members, including those at Palisades Charter High School, are campaigning for their schools to transition to 100 percent renewable energy and energy efficient plans.

The Human Rights Watch Student Task Force is a Los Angeles-based youth leadership-training program that brings together high school students and empowers them to advocate for the human rights of children.

Palisades resident Pam Bruns founded the Task Force in 1999, while serving as the Director of Human Rights Watch in Southern California from 1996-2002. HRW is an international organization, headquartered in New York City, that conducts research and advocacy on human rights.

Pali’s Student Task Force chapter has been a leading member of the high school program for 20 years, advised by PaliHi teachers Angelica Pereyra and Myrna Cervantes.
