The eighth outdoor concert in a series that started during the Covid-19 shutdown will be held at 5:45 p.m. this Friday, October 9 at 1647 Michael Lane in the Highlands.
The concerts are organized by Palisades resident Jens Lindemann, a musician who plays trumpet and the flugelhorn. Donations are accepted at trumpetsolo.com. and any gift exceeding $100 will receive a special autographed CD.
“The artists I bring up here to the Highlands are world-class professional musicians in Los Angeles who have not had any regular work in six months,” Lindemann said. “Your generosity allows them to be paid a wage and share some of the best music you will ever hear…live and in our community. Without all of you, the music simply couldn’t happen. However, WITH you, we will all get through this time together.”
This concert will include Lindemann, Matt Catingub (piano/vocals), Alex Budman (saxophone), Tony Pulizzi (guitar), Trey Henry (bass) and Joel Taylor (drums).
Catingub is a Grammy-winning composer for the Oscar-nominated movie “Good Night and Good Luck.” He has conducted orchestras in Nashville, Atlanta, Houston, St. Louis, Buffalo, Hartford, Omaha, Cincinnati, and in Canada, Korea and Japan. He has worked with Diana Krall, Al Jarreau, Gladys Knight, Kenny Rogers, Take Six, Elvis Costello, Glen Campbell, Kenny Loggins, James Ingram and Boz Scaggs.
Budman has played for singers Liza Minnelli, Rosemary Clooney, Erykah Badu, Christopher Cross, Boz Scaggs and Eric Clapton.
Pulizzi, the house guitarist for “American Idol,” has toured the world with Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Dionne Warwick and Gladys Knight.
Taylor has toured with Al Di Meola, David Foster and Gloria Estefan.
Trey Henry has played with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Henry Mancini, Johnny Cash, Linda Ronstadt, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Maynard Ferguson and Natalie Cole.
Bring your own chairs and remember to socially distance.
