KIDS:

Palisades-Malibu YMCA Executive Director Jim Kirtley continues to find ways to serve the community, even though the facility on Via de la Paz remains closed during the Covid-19 crisis.

For parents who would like to give their children, ages 3 to 12, “recess” or an outdoor activity during virtual school days, the YMCA is providing that opportunity through its “Get Moving Program.” The program began last week and provides safe, outdoor exercise Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Simon Meadow in Temescal Gateway Park.

Session 1 – 8/17/2020 – 8/28/2020

Session 2 – 8/31/2020 – 9/11/2020

Session 3 – 9/14/2020 – 9/25/2020

Session 4 – 9/28/2020 – 10/9/2020

Session 5 – 10/12/2020 – 10/23/2020

Contact program director Oscar Rodriquez (oscarrodriguez@ymcala.org) to sign up or with  questions.

ADULTS:

For adult community members who have been quarantining on sofas the past five months—it’s time to get up and get moving. YMCA staffer Carlos Janos is offering an “Easy Does It” low-impact aerobics class from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday in Simon Meadow.

Your class spot can be reserved with the new YMCA Phone app, which is free to download. Kirtley said it is also possible to come the day of class to find out more.
