For many, the highlight of the HO!HO!HO! – after Santa and Facepainting – was the arts and crafts table, sponsored by the Friends of the Palisades Library.
At the December 7 event in Simon Meadow, all were invited to decorate an ornament, a snowflake or a dreidel. More than 200 pieces of art were brought to life with color, glitter and jewels. Some younger children chose to work on holiday-themed coloring sheets, which were also available. Many parents even joined in decorating ornaments.
The Palisades High School Ambassadors were on hand to provide assistance.
All participants were invited to write a wish on their decorated ornament. The artists were given the choice of bringing their ornament home or donating it to community art board, which has been put on display at the library.
The art board has the hopes and desires of children and teens in this community. If one has a chance to stop by the Palisades Library, 861 Alma Real, and admire the artwork, do, the board is sweet and homespun.
One Friends’ member wrote, “the board symbolizes community togetherness and our many hopes and wishes for the holiday season.”
