Performers act out different scams that are perpetuated on seniors. That meeting will occur November 15 at the Palisades Library.
The Palisades Library, located at 861 Alma Real, has planned seven special November meetings with the focus on Seniors.
MEMORY MATTERS:
Alzheimer’s LA will present “Memory Matters” at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 6. This program will highlight how to care for your brain.
Alzheimer’s Los Angeles will show seniors how to talk to a doctor about memory concerns and what to do when you notice signs and symptoms of cognitive impairment. The program will emphasize why getting an early diagnosis can be helpful for overall health and quality of life.
A second program “Communication & Dementia” will take place at 10:30 on Monday, November 20.
SENIOR WRITING GROUP:
This is a new writing group specifically for seniors. Kathy Katims, of Saved by a Story, will lead this two-part group from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, November 13 and Monday November 27. Participants will write, share (if you want), draft stories and workshop them. Katims said “If you’ve been thinking of trying to put yourself on paper, this is your chance.” Space is limited and people must RSVP to kathleenkatims@gmail.com or call (310) 569-3492. There is no cost for this program. “I chose an in-person format so that local seniors can get to know each other as well as explore their creativity,” Katims said.
MEDICARE MATTERS:
Two different Medicare topics will be explored: “Medicare 101” will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 13. “Medicare Fraud” will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 27.
SENIOR SCAMS;
A “Stop Senior Scams” program will take place at 11 a.m. on November 15. Common scams will be highlighted and presented as a warning to seniors of possible encounters.
