Palisades Senior Lead Officer Brian Espin sent email that as of noon on Friday, January 17, some residents would be allowed back in the evacuation zone that was set up during the Palisades Fire.
Only the areas on the Southern/Eastern edge of the Palisades are open to RESIDENTS ONLY. If one zooms in on the map, one will see a thin black border line that is drawn along the red edge of the fire line along the southern / eastern part of the Palisades (Chautauqua east on Sunset).
OPEN to Residents: Santa Monica Canyon, Lower and Upper Riviera all the way to Mandeville Canyon.
CLOSED to Residents: Will Rogers State Park Road, the upper portion of the Huntington Palisades, the Alphabet streets. Anything north and west of these neighborhoods are still closed.
Search your address in the Genasys Protect to see if your property is still in the red zone. click here.
Espin said, “Please do not try and sneak into the other mandatory evacuation areas by going to check points if your property is not in the area where residents are allowed in.
ADDRESS VERIFICATION REQUIREMENT: When approaching the roadblock, residents
must provide proof of residency. Acceptable forms of identification are a photo ID that
displays the resident’s name, photo, and physical address. Please have these documents
ready to ensure a smooth verification process.
