Sotheby’s realtor Josie Tong is on the executive board of the American Red Cross LA Region and wanted to alert residents that March is Red Cross Month.
Tong is helping organize a special March 3 virtual event that will include a four-course dinner, special entertainment and a Red Cross “goodie” bag.
VIP ticketholders and event sponsors will be treated to an interactive virtual meet and greet with LA Chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo of the famed LA restaurants Animal, Son of a Gun and Jon & Vinny’s.
Those participating will also receive a four-course dinner delivered to the location of choice (Los Angeles County and Orange County only) that includes beverages by Lyres non-alcoholic spirits.
The evening will include links to a story-telling event that will feature appearances by Jason Alexander, Jane Seymour, Chris Meloni, Casey Affleck, Dylan McDermott, Jon Hamm, Robin Thicke and Joshua Malina.
Celebrities will read the real-life stories of how someone’s life was touched, or even changed, by each of the American Red Cross’s lines of services.
Those attending the virtual marquee annual fundraiser will also receive two Red Cross Stories Care Packages. The deadline to sign up for this event is February 22. (Visit: redcross.org/RCStories2022)
Tong urges everyone to participate, especially since it’s a virtual event. “Invite your family and friends to be part of this amazing event,” she said, “there’s room for everyone.”
There will also be an online auction starting March 1.
March has been Red Cross Month since 1943, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt said, “I request that during that month our people rededicate themselves to the splendid aims and activities of the Red Cross.” Since then, every U.S. President, including Joe Biden, has proclaimed March “Red Cross Month.”
If you can’t attend, you can go to the website and donate directly to the Red Cross. “No act of generosity is too small to make a difference,” according to the nonprofit humanitarian organization, who also suggests people can help mark the month by donating blood, taking a First Aid class, learning CPR or make a financial donation to the nonprofit.
