The Pacific Palisades Garden Club will host its December meeting and holiday party at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 9, at the Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club, 901 Harverford Avenue. There will be door prizes donated by the speaker David Bassani of the Beverly Hills Rose Society.
Bassani is a Certified Master Rosarian, a horticultural judge, and the President of both the Beverly Hills and San Fernando Valley Rose Societies.
He is a member of nine additional rose societies from the American Rose Society, Honolulu, Portland and the Desert. He has been a columnist as Dave the Gardener and a lecturer and consultant on roses for over 25 years. He was asked to consult for the J.J.R. Macleod memorial garden in Aberdeen, Scotland, and attended the dedication of the statue.
His presentation at the Palisades meeting will focus on rose care, which includes watering protocols, insect and disease control and pruning, with special attention being given to the aspects of bare rooting various rose varieties.
He will give a demonstration of proper rose pruning. He also generously donated a rose plant and some companion plants for us to give away as door prizes. Members and nonmembers are invited to join for this informative presentation.
