The Pacific Palisades Newcomers & Friends, founded in 1950, was originally intended to welcome those who had recently moved into our community by offering participation in a wide range of activities.
The group has morphed into a social organization that welcomes new and established Palisadians and those from nearby areas including Brentwood, Malibu, Santa Monica and Topanga Canyon.
Newcomers and Friends provides a range of social activities and there is no obligation to attend a general meeting nor any philanthropic requirements. Dues are $25 per year and members receive a monthly newsletter distributed via email.
Every month, members participate in a range of activities: bridge, canasta, golf, book and movie discussions, gourmet cooking, restaurant dining and happy hours, potluck lunches with speakers, hiking, and exploring the L.A. area.
For example, the group has organized a Mah Jongg game every fourth Tuesday of the month at a local restaurant, and all are encouraged to have lunch and play.
In November, plans include exploring the bargains of downtown Santee Alley, enjoying a brown-bag lunch at the Palisades Rec Center and hearing a discussion of senior scams.
The group said it “welcomes new ideas and will work with you to create a group that enables you to follow your passion.”

Sounds like fun! Sign me up!
It took me nearly 40 years of living in the community to discover the existence of this group. What a diverse and fun group it is! Each month I sign up for 7-9 activities. While Hiking and Walking keep me physically active, Duplicate bridge challenges me mentally, Just Coffee and Happy hour provide opportunities for easy conversation evolving from films, books, TV series, travel, gasoline prices to electrician, handyman and doctor referrals. Topics never ends! Wish I discovered years ago!
