Long-time Theatre Palisades Youth director Lara Ganz is teaming with Aaron Jung to offer after-school improvisation and musical theater classes for youth ages 9 to 15.
Under the banner Illumevate, the first option is improv classes on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Monday classes are open to all, and Tuesday classes are for those who have had previous experience.
Classes are available on a drop-in basis ($15 per class) but will build on exercises from previous weeks. Participants will learn the rules of improv, how to create characters, play theater games, write sketches and learn long-form improv.
Musical theater classes will run from September 9 through October 28 on Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m. The workshop fee for eight weeks is $200, but classes will be available on a drop-in basis ($30 per class). Students will sing, dance and act out favorite show tunes. They will learn both solo and group numbers that will culminate in a final musical theater showcase performance. At the end of the workshop, a student will be able to perform an audition-ready musical theater solo.
