HEALTHY BRAIN HABITS
Alzheimer’s LA will provide tips for keeping one’s brain healthy. There will be a discussion of age-related changes in memory and thinking. They will speak about the risk factors for dementia and ways to keep one’s brain healthy. The program will be at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, December 11 at the Palisades Branch Library, 861 Alma Real Drive. (310) 459-2754.
HANDS-ONLY CPR
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health will provide a Hands-Only CPR training. This is a drop-in training, and participants can come anytime between 2 and 4 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12, at the Palisades Library, 861 Alma Real. Note: this is not certified CPR class, and no documents are required from anyone who would like to be trained. This is a life-saving skill that will help residents feel more confident in responding in an emergency.
KNITTING GET-TOGETHER
The Palisades Knitting & Crochet Web meets at 2 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesday of the month to share work, chit chat and knit or crochet. There is no fee and anyone older than 18, who already knits or crochets is welcome to join the December 13 meeting. Those interested can contact dianabaron1411@gmail.com.
PUPPET SHOW
Snooknut & the Robot puppet Show, a live musical adventure, will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 14, at the Library. The show is hosted by Ms. Cheri, a Grammy-Nominated artist. She sings and engages kids with instruments, interactive games, sing-a-longs, bubbles and includes EBOT the singing robot, performing with his colorful LED rocket ship.
ADULT PAINTING CLASS
Local artist Martha Meade will offer a free adult painting class from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, at the Palisades Library Community Room. Participants will paint with acrylics on canvas and will be allowed to take their painting home. Space is limited, so RSVP to palsds@lapl.org or stop by the reference desk to reserve a place. This will be first come, first served, regardless of if you took a prior class.
MYSTERIOUS BOOK CLUB
The Mysterious Book Club will meet at 1:15 p.m., on Tuesday, December 19, at the Palisades Library, 861 Alma Real. The book Daughter of Time, by Josephine Tey, will be discussed. This book was voted the greatest mystery novel of all time by the Crime Writers’ Association in 1990. Scotland Yard Inspector Alan Grant is intrigued by a portrait of Richard III. Could such a sensitive face actually belong to a heinous villain, a man who killed his brother’s children to secure his crown. New members are welcome and do not need to have the book read before they attend. It will allow them to find out next month’s selection.
I’m guessing the program at the Library re Alzheimers will be at 10:30 AM not 10:30 PM?
