I had always wondered about the PPWC birthday party for those in the community who are 90+ years old.

Because my husband turned 90 last November, he is now included in this group and eligible to attend. I was able to come as his guest.

The party had a Kentucky Derby theme. The Derby is known as “The Run for the Roses” and there were roses everywhere you looked.  Each place setting had a rose, the centerpieces were roses, the metal carts delivering the food to the tables were decorated with roses. One of the members even had a dress with roses on it.

There was a place to have your picture taken and you were able to take the picture home as a memory of the day. Entertainment was provided… an excellent singer accompanied by a piano player.

The food was delicious and of course there was birthday cake!  There was a pop quiz and a raffle for prizes. Bill Bruns spoke about the history of the community and the PPWC starting the 90th celebration in 1996.

This party was planned in such detail and totally festive and fun. I encourage anyone who is 90 next year to let the PPWC members know. You’ll be invited and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
