This was Officer John “Rusty” Redican’s” final day on the beach detail and he was kept busy keeping the hillsides safe from fire danger.
Transient campsites were found in the No Trespassing, Very High Fire Severity Zone area. Redican and Officer Margin found a large transient camp this morning in the upper Corona Del Mar Bluffs.
Margin had found an individual in the same location last week. The transient had been warned that it was a no camping zone because of VHFSZ, allowed to collect his belongings and then escorted off the hillside.
Today, two fire pits were found at a large camp in the same location. Pacific Palisades Task Force on Homelessness (PPTFH) volunteer Carlos Rodriguez is contracted by the Huntington private property to keep this area clear. Rodriguez cleaned up the area today and removed all fire materials from the site.
Circling the News had helped to clean up another site near Pacific Coast Highway below the Via de las Olas bluffs a few weeks ago. PPTFH Co-President Sharon Kilbride alerted CTN that the woman had come back and there was a new mess.
Officer Margin went in the brush this morning and found her. She was cited once again for entering a restricted area, this was her fourth citation. She has been offered services by the PPTFH, but has refused.
“The LAPD Beach detail is a very important asset in keeping our hillsides safe from fire threats,” Kilbride said.
what an incredible game of dog chasing tail….. LA city officials are amazing at wasting resources. ban all encampments and 90% of these stupid, irresponsible people and problems go away.
