Kiki Melendez will bring the ‘Hot Tamales’ Comedy Show to the Palisades High School annual fundraiser on March 14.
This year, the Palisades High Booster Club is upping the fun with comedy, dancing and samba at its annual auction and fundraiser from 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, at the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club.
The festivities will include a full-course meal, complimentary wine/beer and, of course, a spectacular comedy show.
“We are grateful to the cast of ‘Hot Tamales Live’ for donating their time and talent to support PaliHi students,” said Booster Club President Dick Held. “The entire club is working hard to get the community involved and spread the word so that everyone can come out and enjoy a great night of comedy.”
Showtime’s “Hot Tamales Live” was started in 2002 by producer, comedian, writer and actress Kiki Melendez (who early on partnered with Eva Longoria as producer) to provide a platform for female comics of all backgrounds to gain exposure and stage time.
The PaliHi Hot Tamales show will feature creator Melendez, Vicki Barbolak (“America’s Got Talent” 2013 winner), Nadine Rajabi (Bravo), Helen Hong (“Silicon Valley”), Shawn Pelofsky (NBC’s “Last Comic Standing”) , Retha Jones (HBO) and Mark Viera (“Comedy Central”).
As seen on Showtime Networks, Amazon Prime and Hulu, ‘Hot Tamales Live’ is an award-winning, all-female comedy show and has toured the nation, receiving overwhelming critical acclaim.
“We love the way they switch up the lineup in the usual comedy club and feature mostly female comics,” said Tracy Landau, PaliHi auction chair.
In addition to comedy, there will be a Vegas-style “OYE Brazil” samba show, and salsa lessons with Toni & Dori D. Two other highlights: a silent and a live auction. All proceeds will benefit the high school. Earlybird tickets $99 are on sale. Prices go up March 1, so visit: go.palihigh.org/auction.
