January Rainfall Continues to Accumulate
According to Carol Leacock, the town’s County-certified rainmeister, last week’s storm, on January 14, 15, 16 and 17, produced 5.1 inches of rain.
On January 7-8, there was 1.65 inches of rain, and on January 11, 12 and 13 there was 3.1 inches of rain. To date, January rainfall is 9.85 inches.
Records are kept from July to July, and Palisades’ 2018-2019 total is 17.65 inches of rain.
The most rain recorded here since 1942, when Zola and Cliff Clearwater began keeping the records, was 42.60 inches in 1997-1998. By contrast, the 2013-2014 season ended with 6.13 inches. The least amount recorded was 4.11 inches in 2006-2007.
