Wishnick Is Recovering from Surgery
Many people have wondered about former Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Arnie Wishnick, who underwent surgery for a tumor on his pancreas on September 17.
As of today, September 25, he is still at the UCLA Medical Center, but has not been allowed visitors.
Wishnick, who had served the Chamber since 1993, was one of the biggest cheerleaders for the new Caruso project, testifying in favor of it at all the public hearings. He had planned to stay on through the ribbon-cutting ceremony, but was replaced on his birthday, September 7, and was not invited to the Caruso gala on September 20.
Serving as executive producer of “BARK! The Musical” at Theatre Palisades, Wishnick is a champion of the local community theater and urges everyone to come out and see the production, which runs through October 7.
He has served on the local Fourth of July parade committee (PAPA) for decades and is the incoming co-president of the Pacific Palisades Optimist Club.
Various local dogs are also “complaining” because Arnie always had a treat for pooches who stopped by the Chamber office. We have been told that dogs are no longer welcome at the Chamber.
Send get-well cards to Arnie c/o of the Chamber of Commerce, 15330 Antioch St., and Circling the News will be happy to pick them up and make sure they get to Arnie, who we hope has a speedy recovery.
FYI – Arnie’s b-day is Sept 7. (-:
So good of you Sue. Thank you for the heads up
My best to a good soul.
Great idea, Sue. I know Arnie will be pleased to receive these good thoughts from his many friends and well-wishers. He is a wonderful man; I hope we can all rally around him now as best we can.
Thanks. I changed it on the blog.
Thanks, Sue for sharing the news about Arnie and for seeing that cards are delivered.
How galling that he was overlooked when he had faithfully supported the Caruso project.
I look forward to seeing our longtime Palisades friend back in town!
Nina
Arnie has also been a valuable member of the Village Green Committee for as long as I have been on it. You can’t find a person more committed to our community and involved in so many ways!!
what a great idea Sue…our letter is on the way! 🙂
Hi Arnie,
I’m very glad to hear that your operation went well. Here’s for a strong and quick recovery. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time!
See you around the Palisades Village!
Wendy
A lovelier human being I have never had the honor of meeting. Arnie attended high school with my former husband, and I had the pleasure of meeting him, Jackie and Arnie’s sister in Las Vegas several years back. He is such an outstanding person with a love for life and a willingness to help other people wherever he sees an opportunity.
My prayers and thoughts are with him and his family as he undergoes chemo and regains his strength.
Arnie ~ you are not alone in this battle. So many people hold you in high esteem and only want for good things to happen in the future. You are loved by many; don’t forget that.
Having moved to Malibu, I somehow missed knowing Arnie was ill. I am so very sad to learn he passed away. No finer or sweeter person graced the Palisades. He will be greatly missed.
