Tiny Christmas Trees Herald Friday’s “Stroll”
There are about 20 small Christmas trees attached to parking meters in the business district and Caruso’s Palisades Village. A Circling the News reader wondered, “What’s with all the Christmas trees?” They will play a central part in the Chamber of Commerce’s first Holiday Stroll.
The Stroll will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. this Friday, November 30. Twenty participating businesses–including six restaurants/coffee shops, two gift stores, two realtors and a bank–will have a decorated Christmas tree in front of their establishment. Strollers can vote on which tree they think looks the loveliest or most festive. The business that receives the most votes will win a prize from the Chamber. (Businesses had to pay $250 in order to participate in the Stroll.)
Strollers will receive a map that shows the participating businesses on Via de la Paz, Antioch, Swarthmore and Monument. Once the map is stamped at a minimum of six locations and turned into the Chamber office by 8 p.m., the entry will be put into a drawing for $500. The first 250 people to return a map will receive a California Lottery Holiday Scratcher.
If you spend $200 or more, the Chamber will wrap three of the gift purchases for free.
Restaurants will include Hank’s, The Draycott, Porta Via, Blue Ribbon Sushi, Kayndaves Cantina, Pinocchio In Cucina and Estate Coffee. Realtors Coldwell Banker and Sotheby’s International Realty, and One West Bank, will be ready to stamp your card.
Clothing stores include mini mioche, BOCA, Denise Carolyn, Special Moments, Elyse Walker and towne by elysewalker. Other stores include Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, Gift Garden, Marc Michel Eyewear Studio and Collections Antiques & Accessories.
City Councilman Mike Bonin is one of the Stroll sponsors. His representative David Graham-Caso told Circling the News, “Councilmember Bonin is happy to support the Palisades Chamber Stroll and is looking forward to attending the event on Friday, but no financial support for the event was requested.”
Other sponsors include Caruso, Compass, Luxe Homecare, Mini of Santa Monica, Saint John’s Health Center, RLB Architecture and the Sugar Ray Leonard Foundation.
Sue maybe if someone sees Bonin on friday they can ask him to tell LIME ELECTRIC SCOOTER to take them out of the Village…there are several now blighting the sidewalks, and a nine year old almost ran me over in Ralphs parking lot…….I notice they are NOT parked in front of CARUSO’S VILLAGE……
Ditto re the children’s scooters. A kid hit our car and dented it as he crossed the light while it was red. Lucky he didn’t get killed. Now we have a dent to fix as he didnt stop.
