The power poles and trees have been removed from the roadways so people can get to their properties.

There is a town hall meeting tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Santa Monica Community College: Palisades Fire Debris Removal. This editor was initially alerted by resident John Alle, who saved an extra ticket for me.

Anyone trying to register today for the live event was told it was sold out. But there is also a virtual webinarclick here.

A zoom account is not required, but you can register to join  at the link above. If you do not have Zoom installed on your computer or app, you can join via web browser (ie. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge) using the link above. A reminder email will be sent one hour prior to the event tomorrow at 3 p.m., Sunday January 26th.

If you know of neighbors or friends who were unable to register for the virtual webinar, the event will be livestreamed at Supervisor Lindsey Horvath’s Youtube page.

If you have tickets and are going in person at Santa Monica College, the event is taking place in the Student Services Center, and parking is available in Lots 3 and 4, accessible eastbound on Pico Blvd.

Look for hot pink signs pointing to the event space. Please arrive beforehand to park and check in to the event, which will start promptly at 3 p.m.

Hello Sue…Thank you for keeping so many of us up to date on what’s happening regarding the aftermath of the fire. Might you be able to direct me to a resource where I might find the following: air quality in the areas where the debris is being removed and then later when building commences? All the best to you in moving forward, Susan kk
P.S. This isn’t a comment on the piece above but the subject of fire debris removal triggers my question. When is it really safe to return and live without health consequences in the burn areas?

  2. Jane Permaul says:

Is there a rationale for opening various zones? I hope those in authority in fact has one rather than arbitrarily open a zone or two at a time leaving the rest of us WONDERING,without any ability to plan or project.
