LAPD Detectives tried to help the male (center), whose car was parked near Bowdoin on Temescal Canyon Road retrieve his vehicle. The man had gone hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains and when he returned the road was closed.

A deceased male was found on the east side of Temescal Canyon Park (below the Native Garden and above the picnic benches where the food trucks park) around 2 p.m.

According to a LAPD Detective on the scene, the cause of death had not been established and it was not determined if the male was a transient.

People, who live above the canyon in the 500 block of Radcliffe, were questioned by the police and asked if they had heard any disturbance the prior evening (July 20).

Both sides of Temescal were closed to cars, bikes and pedestrians during the investigation. Around 6 p.m., a detective said that the L.A. County Coroner was in route and they hoped to open the downhill side of Temescal Canyon Road in the next 30 minutes.

Temescal Canyon Road was closed during the investigation .
