The emphasis is on fun for players at Coach Tharen Todd’s football/sports camp.
Sports Camp Next Week at Calvary School
Football coach Tharen Todd, who is also a popular instructor at the Palisades-Malibu YMCA, will host his seventh annual summer football/sports camp July 22 to 26 at the Calvary Athletic Field in the Highlands.
“We teach sportsmanship, unselfishness, the team concept and hard work on each and every play,” said Tharen, who added that the camp is a way for “kids to make great new friends.”
During the week there will be scrimmage games of ultimate football, flag football, soccer and basketball. Youth will play capture the flag and whiffle ball. Conditioning and speed training, working on speed and agility as well as specific position training, will all be on the schedule.
Mainly it’s about “fun, fun, fun,” Tharen said. “Kids will learn what it takes to compete while having fun. It is summer camp after all, and fun is most important.”
The camp is from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. Gatorade and cold water will be provided, kids should bring their own lunch. The full session is $350 (or $75 for one day).
