It was a wonderful celebration at Simon Meadow on December 7. Hundreds of kids, teens and even adults wanted a photo with the famous couple, Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, who had arrived on the Station 69 Firetruck.

It is a well-known fact that the couple, when they visit Pacific Palisades, park their sleigh and reindeer on the top of Station 69. They are then transported to Simon Meadow, at the corner of Sunset and Temescal, on a firetruck with lights and sirens blaring to alert residents the Claus family had arrived.

When the event was over, the ride to the fire station was missing, so the sprightly couple decided to walk up Sunset back to Carey.

Oh, and was it joyous! People driving, honked their car horns, waved and took photos of the famous couple.

Turning down Swarthmore, the Claus’s were mobbed on the sidewalk. Even though there seemed to be an event underway, people ran around the booths to gain access to Santa and to ask for photos. And of course, the couple obliged, because it made people so happy.

Crossing in the middle of Swarthmore, a public street, there were more and more children who ran up to the Mr. and Mrs. and asked if they could have their photos taken. Lines formed.

At one point, the couple looked at each other, and Santa and Mrs. Claus understood how celebrities must feel and why they have security.

As gently as possible, the two took a last photo request and then attempted to cross through the Village to go to Monument, and back to the Station.

Matt, the head of Caruso Security, intercepted the couple.

Finally!  Just what Santa and Mrs. Claus needed, security and help getting back to the sleigh.

But Matt was not there to help the couple, instead he told them to leave Palisades Village because it was holding its own Santa event, which included the Champagne Chalet.

Mr. Claus firmly told Matt that no ill harm was meant, and that the couple was trying to make it to Monument. That seemed to appease the fine young man, who then added two additional security men to his cohort and the three followed the couple to the sidewalk, to ensure the Claus family took no further photos or committed other heinous crimes.

Three different families followed Santa and the Missus to the sidewalk, and asked for photos.  The couple happily posed for more, before finishing the trek to Station 69 – and back to the North Pole.

Caruso does not own the sidewalk or the street on Swarthmore. The city does and someone has to tell his security that.

Mr.and Mrs . Clause were walking home from a community sponsored event because Caruso shut down the event that the Chamber of Commerce had sponsored for many, many years, why- to make money instead of offering a free community ever.

    Ebenezer Caruso, eh?

Everyone come to our Ho Ho Ho event next year. Everything is free including hot chocolate, popcorn, fun crafts for kids to do, face painting, reindeer and Mr. and Mrs. Claus who take lots of time with each kid. Our very own Mr. and Mrs. Claus are featured in this picture. There are also 3 hours of terrific performances by local kids from Fancy Feet, Palisades Studio, Gerry Blanck Martial Arts, Bluecat Voice Studio, New Vibe Gymnastics and more.

I agree with Patty D……. Sidewalks are free public access to get where one is going.
    Anyone…..
Regardless of the way someone may be dressed.
It was an innocent stroll, by 2 beloved individuals trying to return to their sleigh.
Thank you Santa and Mrs. Claus for giving those children (and adults) a fun day to
remember……”remember when we saw Santa and Mrs. Claus walking on Swarthmore and we took a picture?” WOW!!! Merry Christmas, everyone!!!!!!
