The Red Cross posted on its website: “Immediate need for donors: 37,000 fewer Red Cross donation appointments have been made in May than what’s necessary to ensure patients have the blood they need in the coming weeks. Help can’t wait.”
Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
The Palisades Woman’s Club is hosting a blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, at the Clubhouse, 901 Haverford Avenue. Everyone participating in June will receive a $10 gift card by email to a merchant of the donor’s choice.
In order to give blood, one must be at least 16 years old, and weigh at least 110 pounds. People are allowed to donate every 56 days, or about 6 times a year.

There are still plenty of appointments available!
