Artist Tom Baker

Artist Tom Baker, who is based in Seattle, was so moved by the people suffering in the Palisades Fire and their resiliency, he has painted “Rising from the Ashes.”

With his wife, he is traveling to Pacific Palisades to install the piece in its temporary home at the Ronald Reagan Post 283 Legion Hall at15247 La Cruz. A ceremony will take place at noon, on Saturday, April 12. There will be refreshments.

Pacific Palisades Community Council President Sue Kohl said, “the Legion has agreed to receive the painting with the idea that in the future, it might go to the Library or another worthy spot. I am including a link to his website https://tombakkerart.com/.

Kohl said, “I think it will be a nice opportunity for all of us to be together.”

Baker on his website says:

My art’s mission is to uplift people with color and composition.
It doesn’t have to make sense or be explainable.

When my art stirs someone on the inside, resulting in a smile on the outside,
it has fulfilled its purpose.

The vibrant color stories in my work offer people a glimpse of hope and joy
in today’s world.

My mission in life is to help and serve others with my God-given time and talent.
My art is a tangible extension of that.

This is why I paint.
